Paula is nine years old from Bay Shore and loves all things princess. Her favorite things to do are to play dress-up and watch princess movies with her two sisters, Adriana and Nelly.
Paula has leukemia and was sharing a room with her middle sister Adriana. When told she would be granted a wish from Make-A-Wish® Suffolk County, NY, Paula wished to have a room makeover with a princess theme! Hearing this, her oldest sister, Nelly, graciously gave up her room so that Paula could have her own bedroom to be redecorated.
Wells Enterprises, Inc., the makers of Blue Bunny Ice Cream, helped Make-A-Wish grant 100 wishes to 100 kids with life-threatening medical conditions in 2013 in honor of the company’s 100th birthday.
Paula was set to have her wish granted and enjoy a Blue Bunny ice cream social in October when her health declined and her doctor advised that her wish be postponed. She patiently anticipated work to begin on her new room.
Finally, after weeks of awaiting her wish, Paula was well enough to go back to school. On December 18, 2013, as Paula left for school, a team of volunteers arrived and gave her room a complete makeover, including her own princess carriage bed.
Paula was picked up from school in a white stretch SUV limousine and taken to Glitz & Glamour salon in Islip for a spa treatment. She arrived home to find her friends and family there to help her celebrate her wish.
The look on Paula’s face as she saw her new room for the first time was priceless. We are so humbled and honored to have been a part of Paula’s special day!
