Alle is a 12 year-old girl from Islip who is known for her joyful demeanor and care for others. Her family describes her as “the mayor of town” as for everywhere they go, Alle seems to know someone. She enjoys playing soccer, going to the beach, and spending time with her two sisters, Johanna and Samantha.
On July 25th, 2014, Alle’s life, as she knew it, changed completely. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. From that point, she was unable to participate with her travel soccer team and the treatments caused her to lose her hair.
When Alle was first approached with the Make-A-Wish® idea, she felt very compelled to do something for everyone and had to be reminded by her parents, George and Colleen, that this was her special wish. Alle finally decided on having her room made-over into a Montauk beach get away.
Alle was six years old the first time that she went to Montauk. Since then, the family has made it into a tradition to take the trip once a year. Alle enjoys walking into town to the ice cream shop, raves about the bakery’s jelly croissants, but her absolute favorite part about going out to Montauk is having her whole family together. “It’s a form of relaxation where we can all be happy, meet new people and just have fun. We can forget about the outer world and what’s happening and pretend we’re all in a better place for a little while,” said Alle.
WBLI was able to interview Alle about her wish and host a campaign to help grant her wish. As soon as Alle’s story aired on the radio, a sea of supporters and people of the community called into Make-A-Wish® Suffolk County asking what they could do to help; funds needed for Alle’s wish were raised in less than a week!
Alle not only has the “best room in the house” but she has also recently received the best news from her doctor. Alle is officially cancer-free!
