Max, who is battling Wilm’s Tumor, has had a love for volcanoes ever since his babysitter brought over a paper mâché volcano kit a few years ago. After being approached by his wish granters about his wish Max had no trouble choosing what he wanted to do. This past July, Max and his family boarded a plane to the beautiful country of Iceland where he would not only get to meet a Volcanologist but also get to visit volcanos!
Once in Iceland, Max became the coolest seven year old as he was lowered down inside a dormant volcano on a scaffold landing wearing a helmet and harness. Once inside he was able to learn about the history of the volcano and its beautiful rocks. He was even able to hold some of them! Keeping with the theme of volcanos, Max and his family were able to go to a volcano house where a reception was held to celebrate his strength and bravery for battling his illness. Max also went on a whale watching excursion where he saw many Humpback and Minke whales breaching through the water.
Max’s loves for volcanos definitely heated up after visiting Iceland and the memories from this trip unlike the volcano he visited will never grow dormant.
