A Pirate’s Life For Jessie

“ Welcome Jessie to the pirate brotherhood! ”

- Pirates at the Festival

Jessie wished to be a pirate and got the swashbuckling treatment at the 2013 Long Island Maritime Museum’s annual Pirate Festival!

Jessie, five years old from Medford, has acute lymphoblastic leukemia and wished to be a pirate!

On June 15, he and his family attended the Long Island Maritime Museum’s annual Pirate Festival in Sayville where Jessie spent the day with various groups of authentic, swashbuckling Long Island pirates who helped him transform into a pirate himself! He wore a pirate’s outfit, searched for buried treasure, and joined the pirates in a sing-song celebration where they poured jewels into Jessie’s hat and saluted him.

Jessie wished to be a pirate.Jessie was also presented with a treasure chest full of goodies and his very own pirate play-ship for his backyard so that he can live everyday like a pirate at home! The pirates presented Jessie with his official eye patch and “branded” him an official Pirate!

“Welcome Jessie to the pirate brotherhood!” they shouted.

As the festival came to a close, Jessie took a ride around the Great South Bay on a sailboat with his family. It was the perfect end to an adventurous day!

All he kept talking about was the pirates. ”

  • This past Monday evening, we had the honor of sharing an emotional yet extremely heartwarming evening with the incredible team at Varsity Home Service: Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. This company truly understands and values the gift of giving back to the members of their community and by doing so, they are helping to grant the wish of 7 year-old Samuel from Lake Ronkonkoma who battles a severe seizure disorder. Samuel, who loves Woody and Buzz Lightyear, has made his most heartfelt wish to meet his favorite characters at the magical Walt Disney World Resorts. Due to the incredible support of Varsity Home Service, Samuel's wish will be coming true this upcoming September! Varsity Home Service also presented former wish recipient, Kyle, with a beach terrain wheelchair so that he can comfortably enjoy time at the beach with his family and friends. Thank you to our friends at Mary's Pizza & Pasta of Islip Terrace for hosting such a beautiful event.
