Ocean Park Standoff Performs Concert for Make-A-Wish Recipients

After two children from the Middle Country Central School District were referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Suffolk County, the organization teamed up with the district’s Boosters Club. With a goal to serve the children of our community, we knew that together we could do more.

Delaney, an 11 year-old girl from Selden, was an avid dancer from the time she was three. Her active lifestyle completely reflects her glowing spirit. This past November, Delaney was insisting about a pain in her leg. After treating it as a slight injury from dance, the family was devastated when a doctor told them the mass in her leg was cancer. Tyler is a 15 year-old from Centereach, who at 23 months old was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus. Since then, Tyler has undergone 27 brain surgeries to help manage his condition. His favorite form of medicine happens to be basketball. This past April, Tyler received the news that he had been qualified for a wish. His top three wish possibilities were all basketball related. When Hollywood Records recording artists, Ocean Park Standoff heard about the event, they wanted to help share the “Good News” that both Delaney and Tyler would be granted their one true wish!

“We’re here to give back. We are here to be loved and give as much love as we can in the short time we’re here,” said Samantha Ronson of Ocean Park Standoff.

On April 19th at the Centereach High School auditorium, the band took the stage and performed for the community rallying behind these two children. Delaney, who made a wish to learn how to surf in Hawaii and Tyler, who made a wish to meet his favorite NBA team, the LA Clippers, were both gleaming with excitement.

After the performance, Psychic Medium Jeffrey Wands, engaged the crowd and shared his gift of connecting the audience with passed loved ones.

“Someone can’t do everything but everyone can do something.” Each person feeling and knowing they played a key role in making child's a wish come true, proves that by moving together, amazing things can happen. By enhancing the well-being of our children, we are strengthening the well-being of the community.

Our sincerest thanks to our friends from the Middle Country School District Boosters Club, Hollywood Records, Ocean Park Standoff, Psychic Medium Jeffrey Wands, DECCO by Party Up Productions, Pennylane Productions and everyone involved in making Delaney’s and Tyler’s wishes a reality.
