Aubri is seven years old from Centereach and has leukemia. Her wish was to go to Hawaii to see the dolphins!
On March 12th, Aubri embarked on her Hawaiian adventure. From the moment she got on the plane, she was treated like a princess. Hawaiian Airlines made an announcement when she and her family got on the plane for everyone to welcome her. Aubri turned seven years old while on her wish trip. The hotel set up a birthday surprise celebration for her which included balloons and presents! On her birthday, Aubri was scheduled to do a dolphin encounter. Upon hearing it was her birthday, the dolphin trainers set her up with a private “Wolphin” (whale + dolphin) experience. The wolphin even sang Happy Birthday to her!
Aubri and her family attended an authentic luau, and the Chief gave Aubri his “lavi-lavi” (a material skirt with the tribe’s name on it). “For the native Chief to give this up to Aubri, it was like giving up gold in their culture,” said Aubri’s mom. Aubri spent much of her trip swimming in the pool and loved the huge water slide!
Aubri and her family went on a whale watching tour and saw so many whales! The whales followed their boat around. Aubri’s mom said that one of them waved their fin to say goodbye at the end. What a magical day!
“Every day there was sun, palm trees, and blue skies!” Aubri’s mom said. “Aubri couldn’t wait to tell everyone how amazing her trip was and how much fun she had. When she grows up she wants to become a marine biologist or a dolphin trainer!”
Aubri and her family, along with a member of our staff, went to meet the staff of Kay Cameron Jewelry store in Sayville, N.Y. Kay Cameron is an active member of Jewelers for Children. Kay Cameron held a celebratory wish party for Aubri at her store. Kay and her staff prepared an amazing display of cake and balloons and presented Aubri with beautiful earrings! Kay also gave Aubri $100 spending money, a sweatshirt, a necklace, and some sunscreen to wear at the beach! Thanks to the support of organizations like Jewelers for Children and great people like Kay and her staff, we are able to continue granting wishes and making dreams come true for children like Aubri.
